The Queensland Business Committee welcomes you to attend our Financial Modelling discussion group.  This event will be co-hosted with Danielle Stein Fairhust, financial modelling author, speaker, trainer, consultant and Microsoft MVP.

In the push for organisations to become data driven, business intelligence tools like Power BI are increasingly being used to provide useful insights into multiple areas of the organisation.  Although immediate value can be seen within the IT and operational areas, Power BI is also a powerful tool within a finance function.  Join us as Greg Long demonstrates how Power BI can benefit a finance function, building an end to end reporting solution from data extraction to dashboards.

The session will cover:

  • What is Power BI and how it can benefit organisations
  • How Power BI can address the typical pain points of the monthly reporting cycle
  • Rethinking the monthly reporting cycle using Power BI
  • Extraction of transactional and budget data from a folder source
  • Data modelling for general ledger transactions

Best practices for creating financial statements and dashboards with Power BI
