Managing dependencies and circular references within Excel can be daunting especially in large financial models. As models grow in size and complexity, the chain of relationships between cells can become increasingly intricate and difficult to follow, making it hard to identify how assumptions and inputs changes might affect model outputs in the dependency chain. Similarly, circular references can slow down performance as well as lead to incorrect results if not identified and resolved. While Excel offers us some in-built auditing tools to trace precedents and dependents, these tools have their limitations. Watch to hear from long-standing Excel MVP Jan Karel Pieterse as he demonstrates how his RefTreeAnalyser Excel add-in makes tracing and untangling cell dependencies and circular references much simpler.
